The balance is typical Cambridge River frontage type country grassed with Buffel, Urochlora, some Mitchell and White Spear and is timbered with Gidgee, Bauhinia, Beefwood, Sandalwood interspersed with the odd swamp area with Gutta Percha.
Water and Rainfall
Water is sourced from approximately 3 capped bores which service approximately 6 tanks and approximately 45 troughs serviced by poly pipe under pressure from the bores. There is also a small dam in the North West corner. “Runnymede” is well watered with good supply and a reticulation map showing waters and paddocks is available. Being located north of Richmond the average annual rainfall is approximately 475—500mls (19-20 inch).
The fencing is generally good with the full boundary fenced with mostly barb and plain wire on steel posts. Internal fencing is in good condition with approximately 16 paddocks.
The homestead circa 1967 is a two storey timber and stone framed dwelling with 8 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There is also a 2 bedroom cottage and staff quarters. Other improvements located within the homestead complex include workshop, large vehicle shed, large hay shed, horse yards with stables and a set of goat yards.
There are two sets of cattle yards, both of steel construction, with all new working areas and they are located at either end of the property.
It is estimated that “Runnymede” would carry approximately a beast to 15 acres from weaners through to bullocks i.e. approximately 3,300 head.
“Runnymede” is located in the Northern (ticky) area of the Richmond Shire, it receives above the average rainfall, has a warmer/sunnier climate, consequently grows a greater body of feed. Because of “Runnymede’s” location on the North East edge of the western downs, the grass is top quality mostly Mitchell, Flinders and Buffel. “Runnymede” has had an exceptional season and being lightly stocked it has a very good grass cover which is still green. 36mls recorded 9th and 10th July.
